Following the success in recent years of the annual Manly Golf Club Trainee Pro-Am, AFA and the Manly Golf Club, hosted the Inaugural 'AFA Insurance Trainee Pro Golf Scholarship' on Monday 24th April 2023, delivering the richest Trainee Professional Pro-Am in the country.
David Porter, Managing Director of AFA Insurance, is delighted to be involved and announced that much of the proceedings raised from the Manly Golf Club Trainee Pro-Am will be going towards an annual ‘scholarship’ presented to a Trainee Recipient who exemplifies not only his or hers golfing prowess but is committed to the benefit of the community.
The inaugural Trainee Pro-Am is aimed to attract the Top Assistant Professionals throughout NSW and our intensions in future years are to invite additional leading trainees from other states.
The AFA Insurance Trainee Pro Golf Scholarship is presented to a Trainee Recipient who exemplifies not only his or hers golfing prowess but is committed to the benefit of the community.
AFA has been a huge supporter of sport and young people with talent which extended from the field into the business world creating many opportunities for the up-and-coming generation.
Proceeds of the day were proudly donated to The Fathering Project. As a third-generation family business, to AFA, partnership with The Fathering Project is a natural alignment. With our shared values and goals surrounding the importance of fathers and their impact on future generations, the mission and impact of the Fathering Project is of great importance to AFA.
Trainee Pro Am WinnerCongratulations to Will Bayliss who continued his good form to take out the Manly Golf Club Trainee Pro-Am. Will shot a respectable 2 under par 69 to beat 60 of the leading Trainee Professionals in Sydney.
In addition, Will was awarded the ‘AFA Insurance Trainee Pro Golf Scholarship' by David Porter from AFA Insurance. Will was awarded as a PGA Member who goes ‘above and beyond’ and voted by his peers as a great ambassador of the game.

The Fathering Project is a non-for-profit organisation who aims to inspire and equip fathers and father-figures to positively engage with the children in their lives – for the benefit of kids.
Their primary goal is to inspire and equip fathers and father-figures to positively engage with their sons & ensure every child in Australia has an effective father figure.
